“Words are a lens to focus one’s mind,” Ayn Rand states, and for me that is true. Whether the words are fact or fiction, they stretch inarticulate ideas from the spin cycle of our minds and give abstract possibilities form and order.

Writing is about making sense from non-sense, about creating a touchstone, a reference, or a framework for exploration, engagement and expansion of what is mundane and plausible as well as what is exceptional or extravagant in our lives.

And it can be both a comfort and a challenge to hold an idea or newly acquired knowledge in hard monochrome, knowing it will not be lost; knowing that now it can become a dialogue with others, with new ideas, and with additional knowledge.

Creating written works is a vocation that thrills and enthralls, because writing is a life form.

This is why I write.
